IUGG Day – April 4, 2024

On April 4, 2024, the HUN-REN Institute of Earth Physics and Space Science will host the IUGG Day (https://iugg.epss.hu/iuggnap/), organized by the IUGG Hungarian National Committee (HNC).

The International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) was founded in 1919 with the aim of bringing together scientists working in geodesy, geomagnetism, meteorology, oceanography, seismology and volcanology to raise awareness and advance understanding of the Earth as a dynamic system through collaborative research.

The IUGG HNC aims to be an organization that plays a significant role in coordinating research related to Earth Sciences in Hungary, and in whose work the Hungarian research community can participate as widely as possible. As a first step, the HNC has decided to organize a meeting for representatives of its member organizations and researchers active in the field of geosciences, entitled IUGG Day.

The event will feature presentations by the 8 member organizations of the IUGG HNC (IAG, IACS, IASPEI, IAMAS, IAVCEI, IAHS, IAPSO, IAGA) and 6 invited speakers will give scientific presentations. The program will conclude with a round table discussion where national representatives from IUGG member organizations or their delegates will discuss the opportunities for cooperation between different disciplines and answer questions from participants. Poster presentations will be given during the breaks.

Participation in the event is free of charge, but registration is required.

Please register on the event website: https://iugg.epss.hu/iuggnap/

Registration deadline: 25 March 2024.

Young researchers can apply for a travel grant.
